About Eid Expo
Eid Expo is an opportunity for the Muslims of Chicago to come together for the Eid celebration. The Eid Al-Adha Expo will include two Eid prayers on September 1st, halal food and activities for the entire family.
The Expo will be held at Rosemont Convention Center, Hall A, 5555 N River road, Rosemont, IL 60018.
September 1st from 9 am to 6 pm
Directions to parking: http://www.rosemont.com/desconvention/attend/directions/
Eid prayers are planned for:
- First prayer at 9:30 AM sharp
- Second prayer at 10:30 AM sharp
The Eid prayer consists of a two rakah prayer followed by a sermon (khutba). The prayer itself is similar to the Fajr prayer as the Imam recites out loud; however, there are additional Takbirs following the initial one that starts the prayer and after rising from the prostration (sujood) of the first rakah. The Imam will review this prior to the prayer. Once the prayer concludes, a sermon similar to the Friday sermon will be delivered. (Note: unlike with the Friday prayer, the Eid sermon is delivered after the prayer.)
